Zentriq Setup Guide for Business Central

Everything you need to set up and use Zentriq with Business Central.

Getting started

Set up Zentriq

Before using any Zentriq product, you need a Business Central environment and the Zentriq AL extension installed.

Prerequisites

  • A Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central environment (online)
  • A Microsoft account with access to your BC tenant
  • API access enabled on your BC environment

Install the BC Extension

The Zentriq AL extension adds custom API pages that PunchOut, Agent, and Document Capture use to communicate with your Business Central data. It does not modify any standard BC tables or functionality.

1
Open Extension Management

In Business Central, search for “Extension Management” and open it.

2
Install the Zentriq extension

Search for “Zentriq” in the marketplace, or upload the .app file provided by our team.

3
Configure your environment

In the Zentriq dashboard, enter your BC environment URL and company name. The extension will verify the connection.

Authentication

Zentriq uses Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) for authentication. When you sign in, you authenticate with your Microsoft account — the same one you use for Business Central. No separate password or API key is needed.

Security

All data stays within your BC tenant. Zentriq never stores your Business Central data on our servers. Cart and document content is processed in real-time and discarded after delivery.

PunchOut

Cart capture

Capture any e-commerce cart and create Requisition Worksheet lines in Business Central with one click.

Install the Chrome Extension

Download Zentriq PunchOut from the Chrome Web Store and pin it to your toolbar. Click the extension icon and sign in with your Microsoft account.

Capture a cart

1
Shop on any supplier website

Browse any e-commerce site — Amazon Business, Distrelec, RS Components, Galaxus, Conrad, or any other supplier. Add items to your cart as usual.

2
Click “Capture”

Open the Zentriq extension and click Capture. The AI reads the current page and extracts product names, SKUs, quantities, prices, and currency.

3
Review and send to BC

Check the extracted items, correct anything if needed, then click Send. Lines are created in your Requisition Worksheet.

No supplier integration needed

Unlike traditional PunchOut catalogs, Zentriq works on any website. The AI reads the page like a human would — no EDI or cXML setup required.

Item reference matching

After AI parsing, each extracted SKU is checked against your BC item references (vendor item numbers). Matched items are linked automatically to the correct BC item and vendor. Unmatched items are flagged so you can review them manually.

Requisition Worksheet

Captured items are inserted as lines in your BC Requisition Worksheet with vendor, item reference, quantity, and unit price pre-filled. From there, your standard BC workflow takes over — review, modify, and convert to purchase orders as usual.

Agent

AI assistant

Ask questions about your BC data, analyze documents, and create records — all in natural language.

Overview

The Zentriq Agent is an AI assistant embedded directly in Business Central. Open it from the BC sidebar and start typing. The agent understands your BC data and can query vendors, items, purchase orders, stock levels, and more.

Read actions

Available on all plans including free. Ask the agent anything about your data:

  • “Show me my top 5 vendors this month”
  • “What's the status of PO 1234?”
  • “Which items are below reorder point?”
  • “How much did we spend with Vendor X last quarter?”

Write actions

Available on paid plans. The agent can create or modify records in Business Central:

  • “Create a purchase order for Vendor X with these items”
  • “Update the unit cost on item Y to 15.50”
  • “Add a line to the open requisition worksheet”
Confirmation required

Every write action requires your explicit approval before it executes. The agent shows you exactly what it will do and waits for you to confirm.

Document upload

Upload invoices, delivery notes, or contracts directly in the chat. The agent extracts key information, compares against existing orders, and flags discrepancies. Supports PDF, images, and scanned documents.

Document Capture

Document processing

Extract data from invoices, receipts, and delivery notes. Match against your BC records automatically.

Overview

Zentriq Document Capture uses AI to read documents and extract structured data — vendor name, amounts, line items, dates, tax info, and more. Extracted data is cross-referenced with your Business Central vendors and items automatically.

Supported documents

Invoices

Supplier invoices with line items, amounts, tax and payment terms

Receipts

Purchase receipts and order confirmations

Delivery notes

Shipping documents with quantities and reference numbers

Contracts

Framework agreements and recurring order contracts

Supported formats: PDF, PNG, JPG, TIFF. Even scanned or photographed documents work.

Processing a document

1
Upload the document

In the Zentriq Agent chat, upload a file or drag-and-drop. The AI starts processing immediately.

2
Review extracted data

The agent shows you the extracted vendor, line items, amounts, and dates. It also tells you if it found a matching vendor or PO in BC.

3
Push to Business Central

Approve the extraction and the data is sent to BC — creating or updating records as needed.

Permissions & troubleshooting

Required BC permissions

Users need the following permissions in Business Central:

  • Read access — Items, Item References, Vendors, Purchase Orders, Ledger Entries
  • Read/Write access — Requisition Worksheets (for PunchOut cart capture)
  • API access — Must be enabled on the BC environment

The extension uses BC's standard permission model. No admin rights are required for daily use.

Troubleshooting

Can't connect to Business Central
  • Verify your BC environment URL is correct in dashboard settings
  • Check the Zentriq AL extension is installed and published
  • Confirm your user has the required permissions
  • Make sure API access is enabled on your BC environment
Cart capture returns no items
  • Make sure you're on the cart/checkout page of the supplier website
  • Check that items are visible on the page (not behind a login wall)
  • Try refreshing the page before capturing
Items not matching to BC references
  • Verify vendor item numbers are set up in BC Item References
  • Check that the vendor is correctly configured with their item numbers
